Can the receiver find out who sent a note?

No. We don't collect senders' names, emails or phone numbers, and we never store IP addresses. The voice is disguised on the sender's phone, so we don't have the original recording either. The only clues are the words you say and any hint you add.

Why do notes disappear?

To keep conversations light and storage small, notes are deleted 2 days (48 hours) after they arrive.

Do I need to download an app?

No. SecretVN runs in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, laptop or desktop.

Why can't I record?

Your browser needs permission to use the microphone. Tap the lock or “aA” icon in the address bar and allow the microphone. If you opened the link inside Instagram or TikTok, tap the menu and choose “Open in browser”. You can also upload an existing recording.

I can't hear my recording on iPhone

Check that your iPhone isn't on silent (the switch or Action button on the side), turn the volume up, then tap play again. If you have AirPods or Bluetooth speakers connected, the sound may be playing through them.

What are nicknames like “Velvet Owl”?

Each sender gets a random nickname that stays the same for you, so you can tell when several notes came from the same person without knowing who they are. The same sender has a different nickname for every receiver.

How do I turn a note into a video?

Tap “Convert to video” on any note in your inbox. Choose a colour and we'll render a 9:16 video with the voice, a moving waveform, your prompt and your link. Senders get the same option right after sending.

Is SecretVN free?

Yes, completely. Every feature — all six voices, notes up to three minutes, video clips and story cards — is free for everyone. We keep the lights on with a small number of ads on the blog and Explore pages. You'll never see ads on your recorder or inbox.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings and scroll to “Delete account”. Your account, link and every note are removed immediately.
